People often ask, “How do you know when you’ve been chosen by God?”
I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do know this: being chosen doesn’t always feel like a blessing at first. Sometimes it feels like a battle.
I’ll be the first to admit that reading the Bible convicts us. It challenges us, corrects us, and calls us to something greater than ourselves.
On October 7, 2025, I went into surgery for a hip replacement. During that surgery, I flatlined twice.
The first time I heard the words, “She flatlined,” I began to pray.
The second time I heard it, I began calling on the name of Jesus.
What amazes me is that I heard everything. I heard the doctors. I heard the hospital staff. I heard the urgency in their voices. And when I woke up, all they could do was look at me.
I don’t share this story for sympathy. I share it because it changed me.
When you’ve stood that close to death and still have breath in your body, you begin to ask different questions. You begin to understand that every day is a gift. Every moment has purpose.
Maybe being chosen isn’t about being perfect.
Maybe it’s about being preserved.
Maybe it’s about surviving what should have taken you out so that your testimony can help someone else make it through.
My book, When Chosen by God, You Can’t Hide, was born from experiences like these. It is a reminder that your survival is not accidental. Your story is not over. And if God keeps bringing you through what should have broken you, there may be a purpose attached to your life that you cannot yet see.
I flatlined twice.
But God wasn’t finished with me.
And if you’re reading this today, He may not be finished with you either.
